Time to vent a little....

I had someone walk into the store the other day just to tell me that the soap they get at their favorite big box store is the best stuff ever. They say this and are covered head to toe in psoriasis. My reply was, "Well good for you. It looks like it's working well." This got them even more ginned up and they literally started screaming that their doctor said there is no cure or any way to treat their particular psoriasis. I asked if they have ever tried an all-natural soap. They replied, "No." I asked, "then how do you know it wouldn't help your condition?" They replied, "I just know." At this point I thanked them for stopping by and escorted them out the front door, flipped the open sign to closed and waved goodbye.

I decided something when closing the door on the hyperbolic lunatic that was yelling on the sidewalk in front of my shop....

I am going to stop arguing with ignorant people. It is a waste of my time and energy. I know that sounds very condescending of me but there are only so many hours in a day, and I have a lot to do. It is one thing to answer questions and inform someone on the benefits of our products. It is another thing entirely to get in a discussion that turns into an argument with someone that doesn't know a darn thing about the product, yet assumes they are right just because they raise their voice. As if the level of one's voice makes them more correct and more knowledgeable. It reminds me of the parable of the donkey, tiger and the lion...

Grass is Blue?

The donkey told the tiger, “The grass is blue.”

The tiger replied, “No, the grass is green.”

The discussion became heated, and the two decided to submit the issue to arbitration, so they approached the lion, the King of the Jungle.

As they approached the lion on his throne, the donkey started screaming: ′′Your Highness, isn’t it true that the grass is blue?”

The lion replied: “If you believe it is true, the grass is blue.”

The donkey rushed forward and continued: ′′The tiger disagrees with me, contradicts me and annoys me. Please punish him.”

The king then declared: ′′The tiger will be punished with 3 days of silence.”

The donkey jumped with joy and went on his way, content and repeating loudly ′′The grass is blue, the grass is blue…”

The tiger asked the lion, “Your Majesty, why have you punished me, after all, the grass is green?”

The lion replied, ′′You’ve known and seen the grass is green.”

The tiger asked, ′′So why do you punish me?”

The lion replied, “That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because it is degrading for a brave, intelligent creature like you to waste time arguing with an ass, and on top of that, you came and bothered me with that question just to validate something you already knew was true!”

Basically, the biggest waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn’t care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions. Never waste time on discussions that make no sense. There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand. Others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and the only thing that they want is to be right even if they aren’t.

When IGNORANCE SCREAMS, intelligence moves on! It is time for us to get smarter and reclaim a semblance of sanity.
